Lawyer Accuses Tinubu of Controlling INEC and Judiciary

Zubayr Abubakar, a Kaduna-based legal practitioner, has accused President Bola Tinubu of having a significant influence over the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the judiciary. In an interview with JKD TV, Abubakar lamented that no leader has ever governed Nigeria with such control, even during military dictatorships.

He stated that the judiciary is compromised, with judges allegedly influenced by Tinubu, which undermines the principle of justice. Abubakar further criticized Nigeria's security agencies for acting in favor of Tinubu rather than serving the country, suggesting that they would not intervene to protect the rights of opposition parties.

He expressed concerns about the impartiality of INEC, especially in light of the recent Supreme Court judgment against the Wike faction, yet INEC continues to recognize that faction. Abubakar's statements reflect a broader concern regarding the integrity of Nigeria's electoral process and the treatment of opposition parties.
