Tinubu Swears in Muttaqha Darma as Housing Minister

President Bola Tinubu inaugurated Muttaqha Darma as the new Minister of Housing and Urban Development on Thursday, during a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja at approximately 4:00 PM. Darma, who was confirmed by the Senate after a screening exercise, previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.

In his address, Darma pledged to work closely with the National Assembly to tackle Nigeria's significant housing deficit, which affects around 100 million Nigerians due to inadequate housing. He outlined reforms aimed at improving leadership, expanding access to affordable housing, and strengthening the housing sector's institutions.

Darma succeeds Ahm Dangiwa, whose departure was part of a minor reshuffle in the federal executive council announced by President Tinubu on Tuesday. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Georg Akum, indicated that the reshuffle aims to enhance the cohesion and synergy of the government to achieve impactful economic delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
