Tinubu Swears in Muttaqha Darma as Housing Minister

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu officially swore in Muttaqha Darma as the Minister of Housing and Urban Development. The swearing-in ceremony took place at approximately 4:00 PM in the President's conference room at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Darma, who was formerly the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, was confirmed by the Senate after a screening process led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. During his confirmation, Darma pledged to work closely with the National Assembly to tackle the country's housing deficit, which affects approximately 100 million Nigerians lacking adequate housing.

He outlined plans to improve leadership in the housing sector, expand access to affordable housing, and strengthen relevant institutions. Darma succeeds Ahm Dangiwa, who exited the position following a minor reshuffle in the Federal Executive Council announced by the President on Tuesday.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Georg Akum, facilitated the formal handover of the ministry.
