Tinubu Increases Code of Conduct Bureau Budget to N20 Billion for Modernization

Former Lagos State Governor and political leader Bola Tinubu has approved a substantial budget increase for Nigeria's Code of Conduct Bureau, raising it from N3 billion to almost N20 billion. The increase, announced by CCB Chairman Dr.

Abubakar Bello, aims to overhaul the outdated asset declaration system in the country. The enhanced budget will facilitate the modernization of the bureau's operations through technological upgrades, including the development of a fully online asset declaration platform.

This platform will link to key government databases for instant verification, using artificial intelligence to analyze declarations and flag potential breaches of the code of conduct. Failure to declare assets or undergo verification may lead to investigations and fund recovery.

The move is part of efforts to address the challenges posed by the manual asset declaration system currently in place.
