US Lobby Firm Questions Authenticity of Trump-Tinubu Letter

The American lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York has raised doubts regarding the authenticity of a letter allegedly from former U.S. President Donald Trump to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.

The firm compared the letter released by the Nigerian Presidency, which was shared via the Facebook handle PBATMediaCentre, to an authentic letter sent by Trump to Argentine President Javier Milei. They noted significant differences in format and style, suggesting that the manner of release has raised questions about its legitimacy.

While the firm did not directly accuse Tinubu of fabricating the letter, it emphasized the unusual nature of quoting a letter in full without providing a scanned image of the original document. The letter, dated July 6, 2026, praised Tinubu's leadership in combating terrorism and reaffirmed U.S.-Nigeria security cooperation.

It was made public by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, a day before the firm's comments.
