The United States-based policy advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, announced that attempts by the Nigerian Presidency to gain the support of US President Donald Trump for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election have been unsuccessful. This statement was made via a post on the firm's verified X handle on Tuesday.

Von Batten-Montague-York accused Tinubu’s special advisers, including Sunday Dare, of expressing dissatisfaction with the firm due to its perceived role in undermining their $9 million lobbying campaign aimed at winning over President Trump. The firm confirmed that a planned meeting between President Tinubu and President Trump at the United Nations gathering would not take place.

Von Batten-Montague-York stated, “The effort to secure US support for Tinubu’s presidential campaign has failed,” and criticized the Nigerian government for its response to the failure, urging them to maintain dignity in defeat.
