Tinubu Orders Forensic Audit of IPPIS and Federal Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has mandated a comprehensive forensic audit of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) and various Federal Government agencies, ministries, and systems. This directive, communicated by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, follows a Federal Executive Council resolution on August 19, 2026, prompted by findings from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) regarding fake agencies and ghost workers.

The audit will first focus on IPPIS, investigating payroll fraud and reconciling figures identified by the ICPC. It will also assess links between IPPIS and other financial management platforms to identify systemic weaknesses.

The second component will encompass all Federal Government entities to verify their legal status and operational recognition. Tinubu emphasized that the audit should be conducted with independence and professionalism, allowing the audit team access to necessary records and systems, while collaborating with the ICPC to address ongoing investigations and close loopholes.
