Tinubu Confirms Olatunji Disu as New IGP

President Bola Tinubu presided over a meeting of the Nigeria Police Council at the State House in Abuja to confirm Olatunji Disu as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP). This meeting comes after the resignation of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun the previous week.

The council's endorsement of Disu's appointment is expected to signal a continuation of ongoing security reform efforts aimed at strengthening public confidence in the police force. Following the council's endorsement, President Tinubu will transmit Disu's appointment to the Senate for confirmation in line with constitutional statutory provisions.

The meeting was attended by several high-level officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, and other statutory members of the council.
