Tinubu Reappoints Audi as NSCDC Chief for Five Years

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reappointed Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Audi as the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for a new five-year term, effective from February 27.

This reappointment was announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information Strategy. Dr.

Audi first assumed the role of NSCDC chief in 2021, following an appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari. His renewed mandate comes during an event marking the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the NSCDC national headquarters in Abuja.

President Tinubu has charged Audi with repositioning the NSCDC to play a significant role in the country’s security, particularly in protecting citizens from banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism. Dr.

Audi was born on September 30, 1967, in Laminga, Nasarawa State, and has an extensive educational background, including a PhD in Public Administration.
