Tinubu receives Adeleke at Presidential Villa after Osun election victory

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday evening, marking their first in-person encounter following Adeleke's successful re-election bid. The governor arrived at the forecourt of Aso Rock at approximately 5:25 pm, dressed in navy blue traditional attire and accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Several other officials from Osun State joined the discussions at the villa. Adeleke secured a fresh mandate in last Saturday's Osun governorship election, winning 511,067 votes compared to his main rival's 444,815 votes.

The Accord Party candidate claimed victory in 19 of the state's 30 local government areas, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate. Tinubu had previously reached out to congratulate Adeleke by telephone following the election outcome.

Speaking with journalists after the closed-door session, Adeleke stated that he visited to express gratitude to Tinubu, describing him as the 'father of the nation.' The governor thanked the president for his role in enabling a fair electoral process and reaffirmed his support for Tinubu's presidency. According to reports, Adeleke clarified that no political agreement exists between himself and the president despite their meeting.

The gathering represented an effort to foster unity within Osun State following the competitive election. The meeting's timing—just days after the election result—suggests efforts by both leaders to establish working relations and ensure stability in the southwestern state.
