Tinubu Renews Yelwa’s Appointment as N-HYPPADEC MD for Final Four-Year Term

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission for a final four-year term. The announcement was made on Wednesday in accordance with Section 93 of the Electricity Act 2023.

Yelwa is tasked with addressing ecological challenges, driving infrastructure development, and improving the livelihood of communities hosting hydroelectric power projects. The President urged Yelwa to introduce greater innovation and dedication in the Commission's operations.

The reappointment is expected to accelerate project delivery, enhance environmental management, and ensure the Commission fulfills its statutory mandate. This decision reflects a commitment to continuity and progress in the development of hydroelectric power projects in Nigeria.
