Tinubu Swears In Muttaqha Darma as Housing Minister

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu officiated the swearing-in ceremony for Muttaqha Darma as the new Minister of Housing and Urban Development at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which took place shortly after 4:00 PM. Darma, who previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, was nominated by Tinubu and subsequently approved by the Senate after a screening process conducted on the same day.

In his address, Darma assured lawmakers of his commitment to tackling Nigeria's housing shortage, which affects a large number of citizens. He spoke about plans to enhance leadership within the ministry, widen access to affordable housing, and strengthen institutional responsibilities in housing development.

Darma replaces Ahm Dangiwa, who left the position following a recent reshuffle within the Federal Executive Council announced earlier in the week. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, explained that these changes were made to improve coordination of government activities and support ongoing economic plans.
