Tinubu to Address UN General Assembly in September

President Bola Tinubu has confirmed his attendance at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, scheduled for September. Jimoh Ibrahim, Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the UN, disclosed that Tinubu's address is set for 10:45 AM New York time, which corresponds to 3:45 PM Nigerian time, allowing Nigerians to watch live.

This marks Tinubu's return to the UNGA after a two-year absence. He will sit close to U.S.

President Donald Trump in the front row, with potential for a meeting between the two leaders. Tinubu plans to attend several side events, including discussions on power, energy issues, and border security in West Africa.

He aims to reaffirm Nigeria's commitment to border policy and peacekeeping efforts in the region. Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead Nigeria's delegation and deliver the national statement at the 79th UNGA in September 2024.
