Tinubu to Enhance Welfare for Nigeria's Elderly Citizens

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu disclosed plans to restructure the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) and enhance welfare packages for elderly Nigerians. This initiative aims to institutionalize comprehensive welfare programs for millions of elderly citizens, including improvements in pension administration and specialized healthcare services.

Dr. Bode Olaonipekun, the Director General of the NSCC, emphasized that the Tinubu administration is committed to restoring the dignity of senior citizens and transforming the NSCC into a stronger institution capable of delivering sustainable welfare programs nationwide.

The administration has already demonstrated a renewed commitment to older persons, with efforts focused on creating policies that guarantee their well-being. The initiative also includes expanding access to age-friendly medical services and improving retirement welfare.

This announcement was made during a conference in Abuja, highlighting the government's focus on social protection for the elderly.
