Tinubu to Inspect Key Infrastructure in South-East May 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will visit the South-South and South-East regions on May 12, 2026, as announced by the presidency. During this visit, he will inspect the Abia section of the Aba-Port Harcourt motorway and the Elem Axi East-West road in River State.

The visit aims to inaugurate projects expected to be completed by April. Former Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi noted that the 43-kilometer dualized Aba-Port Harcourt highway is a vital economic route linking Abia and River State and is currently 90% complete, having faced delays due to funding challenges.

The current administration has intervened to ensure the contractor, CCECC, finishes the project, with outstanding payments worth billions of naira to be settled within a week. The focus is on completing the road within twelve months, with the president expected to commission it during his May visit.
