Bola Tinubu Submits 24 Health Bills to Nigerian Senate for Sector Reform

Former Lagos State Governor and political leader, Bola Tinubu, has forwarded 24 health sector bills to the Nigerian Senate for consideration. The bills, in line with Section 58(2) of the Nigerian Constitution, were transmitted in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The proposed legislation follows a comprehensive review of existing health sector laws in collaboration with the Attorney General of the Federation and the Ministry of Health. The bills seek to streamline the government structure in health institutions, reduce board membership, enhance service delivery efficiency, and cover a wide range of health institutions and regulatory bodies.

These include tertiary teaching hospitals, special hospitals, professional councils, regulatory agencies, and various healthcare management boards. Tinubu expressed confidence in the Senate's judicious consideration of the bills to strengthen Nigeria's healthcare sector.

The Senate referred the bills to the appropriate committees for further legislative action.
