Tinubu Calls on Religious Leaders to Combat Violence

On Sunday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu called on religious and spiritual leaders to consistently raise their voices against terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry during a goodwill message delivered in Kano by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume. Tinubu stated that no genuine service to God can be advanced through the destruction of innocent lives.

He urged religious institutions to strengthen advocacy for peace education, religious literacy, and the moral formation of youth. Addressing the World Khalifa of the Tijjaniyya Order and other spiritual leaders, he emphasized their responsibility in confronting violence and extremism.

The President noted the gathering's significance amid global challenges, including violent extremism and transnational crimes. He cited a UN report indicating that 117.8 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide by the end of 2025, underscoring the importance of spiritual leaders in healing and reconciliation efforts.
