Tinubu Appoints Yari to Lead 2027 Campaign Council

President Bola Tinubu appointed Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Marafan Sokoto, as the Director-General of the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, overseeing a 108-member team comprising politicians, former party chairmen, governors, senators, and regional power brokers. This appointment is significant as it represents Tinubu's strategy for securing a second term, relying on Yari's 27 years of political experience.

Yari has held various roles, including party secretary of ANPP in Zamfara, state chairman, National Financial Secretary, House of Representatives member, two-term governor, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and currently a senator. His previous success in unifying factions within the Nigeria Governors’ Forum demonstrates his capability in consensus-building, which will be essential for the campaign.

The campaign faces challenges, including managing a diverse group of influential politicians and addressing regional political dynamics, particularly in the South-East. Yari's performance in this role will significantly impact his political future and the effectiveness of the campaign.
