Primate Ayodele Warns Tinubu on 2027 Re-election Chances

Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, issued a warning regarding President Bola Tinubu's prospects for re-election in 2027, stating that it is not guaranteed. In a statement released on October 13, signed by his media aide Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele expressed concern that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is dangerously confident heading into the election.

He suggested that many would be shocked if Tinubu fails to secure a second term, predicting that the consequences of such a defeat would profoundly impact the country and could take a long time to recover from. Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election with approximately 35% of the vote, while opposition candidates collectively garnered about 60%.

The fragmented opposition faces challenges in uniting behind a single candidate, which could weaken their position against Tinubu, who benefits from incumbency and a strong party structure. Historically, Nigeria has seen an incumbent president lose only once, in 2015.
