Bwala Accuses Obi of False Life Threat Claims

Daniel Bwala, serving as a special adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), of fabricating claims about threats to his life. Bwala's comments followed Obi's remarks made during a high-level roundtable discussion in Berlin, Germany, where Obi alleged an attempt on his life during a planned visit to Benue State in April 2025.

Bwala dismissed Obi's claims as desperate and part of a strategy to rally support for the Obidient Movement, which backs Obi's presidential ambitions. He criticized Obi for alleging intimidation at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where Obi's vehicle was reportedly involved in a violation of airport traffic regulations.

Bwala stated that Obi's allegations were unfounded and suggested that they aimed to mobilize the Obidient Movement against political opponents. Obi's spokesperson, Zekeri Idri, countered Bwala's claims, asserting that Obi does not enjoy adequate security protection.
