Tinubu's Aide Explains Why President Won't Intervene in Nnamdi Kanu's Trial

Chioma Weslei, a senior special assistant to President Bola Tinubu, clarified that the President will not interfere in the ongoing trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Weslei emphasized that the President respects the rule of law and will await the court's decision on Kanu's case.

Kanu, who was first arrested in 2015 and later re-arrested in 2021 by the Department of State Services (DSS), remains in custody. Calls for his release have been made, but the government maintains a stance of non-interference in the legal process.
