Tinubu's Greener Airports Initiative Progresses in Nigeria

On Wednesday in Lagos, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed that President Bola Tinubu's vision for greener airports and infrastructure modernization is being realized through various upgrades across Nigerian airports. After touring the hajj and new terminal building at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Keyamo revealed plans to equip the new terminal with solar panels to power non-aeronautical areas, part of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)’s Circular Economy Programme.

This initiative aligns with global standards promoted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Airports Council International (ACI) for cleaner energy and reduced carbon emissions. Keyamo praised FAAN for its commitment to sustainable airport development, reflecting Tinubu's dedication to green energy.

The renovated Hajj Terminal can process 8,500 to 10,000 pilgrims, featuring modern amenities like improved cooling systems and VIP facilities. Keyamo commended FAAN's Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, and FAAN Board Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, for their efforts in the renovation.
