Oyintiloye Defends Tinubu Against Drug Allegations

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, condemned the claims that the United States has reopened a drug-trafficking case against President Bola Tinubu, calling it political propaganda intended to distract Nigerians. In a statement from Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye asserted that no U.S. court has reopened or ordered a retrial against Tinubu, nor has he been declared guilty.

He clarified that the controversy stems from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking access to records from U.S. law enforcement, not a criminal prosecution. Oyintiloye accused opposition leaders of recycling allegations against Tinubu, particularly regarding certificate forgery and drug trafficking, instead of presenting credible alternatives and policies to improve governance.

He emphasized that Nigeria's democracy should focus on ideas and manifestoes rather than personal attacks, urging the opposition to articulate their plans for the electorate.
