Tinubu Approves Lifetime Salary for Retired Paramilitary Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu's recent approval of a lifetime salary structure for retired paramilitary chiefs has been celebrated as a significant and overdue act of justice. This decision was commended by former senior officers from various paramilitary agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Fire Service, and Nigerian Correctional Service, during a visit led by Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Minister of Interior, in Abuja.

The retired officers expressed relief, noting that the approval brings closure to years of neglect and financial hardship they endured after dedicating decades to national security. Tunji Ojo emphasized that the Tinubu administration prioritizes the welfare of security personnel, stating that the new salary structure represents a policy shift recognizing their sacrifices.

He also highlighted ongoing reforms within paramilitary services, including the clearance of promotion backlogs and the restoration of morale among officers, which aims to enhance career progression and instill pride in the profession.
