Nigeria Turns Gas Flaring into Wealth Creation Initiative

The Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is working to convert gas flaring into wealth creation. During a visit to the AGPC facility located in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dare, emphasized the initiative's potential to alleviate poverty in the country.

Nigeria has 87 ready gas projects, making it the first in Africa for gas deposits and the ninth globally. The AGPC facility has a production capacity of 130 million to 170 million standard cubic feet per day, with plans to reach 300 million.

Engr. Nwogb, the current manager of operations at AGPC, described the facility as a landmark initiative managed by the private sector.

The project aims to minimize environmental impact while ensuring safety and health standards are upheld, positioning Nigeria to move away from gas flaring and towards wealth generation.
