Tinubu Directs NLNG to Lower Cooking Gas Prices for Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) to increase domestic gas usage, reduce gas flaring, and ensure that Nigeria's gas reserves lead to more affordable energy for citizens. During a meeting on August 26 at the State House in Abuja with NLNG's Board of Directors and Executive Leadership, led by Managing Director Adeleye Falade, Tinubu stressed that Nigeria's natural resources must improve citizens' lives.

He challenged NLNG to find solutions for gas flaring, which poses environmental issues and wastes economic resources. While acknowledging NLNG's efforts to expand operations and benefit from international market demand, he insisted that Nigerians should also gain from the company's growth through improved domestic gas supply and lower costs.

Falade stated that NLNG currently directs all cooking gas production to the Nigerian market and plans to increase supply capacity by 50% once the ongoing Train 7 project is completed, aligning with Tinubu's call for better domestic energy availability.
