Tobi Amusan Leads Nigeria at World Athletics Championships

Nine Nigerian athletes are set to represent the country at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest, Hungary, from September 11 to 13, 2023. Tobi Amusan, the former world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, will lead Nigeria's challenge in the women's 100m hurdles semi-final, competing against athletes such as Devynne Charlton, Danielle Williams, Alia Armstrong, and Keni Harrison.

Kayinsola Ajayi will participate in the men's 100m, aiming for a place in the final against competitors including American Kenny Bednarek and South Africa’s Akani Simbine. Nigeria will also compete in the mixed 4x100m relay final, alongside teams from Hungary, Spain, the Netherlands, Canada, Jamaica, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Germany, and the United States, with a season's best time of 40.24 seconds.

Other Nigerian athletes include Ella Onojuvwevwo in the women’s 400m and Udodi Onwuzurike in the men’s 200m, while Ezekiel Nathaniel will compete in the men’s 400m hurdles.
