Togo Seeks Increased Electricity Supply from Nigeria

Togo has formally requested an increase in electricity supply from Nigeria, specifically from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). This request was made during a strategic meeting involving the management of NDPHC and the Togolese delegation led by D.

Bo K. Mba Barandao, Director General of Compagnie Énergétique de l'État Togolais (CEET).

Currently, CEET purchases 75 megawatt-hours of electricity from NDPHC on a bilateral basis. The partnership is crucial for supporting electricity stability in Togo, which is experiencing a sharp rise in demand due to new industrial and commercial users connecting to the national grid.

NDPHC's Managing Director, Jennif Adighij, expressed readiness to strengthen collaboration with CEET to sustain electricity exports to Togo and emphasized the need for a sustainable commercial framework to ensure long-term viability of cross-border electricity supply. The meeting reaffirmed commitments to enhance cooperation in the electricity sector and develop a workable framework to support increased electricity supply from Nigeria to Togo.
