Yoruba Ronu Forum Urges Obasanjo to Address Tinubu Case

The Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum called on notable Nigerians, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, former military Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, and former President Emeka Anyaoku, to publicly address the ongoing U.S. court proceedings involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The forum's president, Akin Malaolu, issued this statement on Sunday, September 6, 2026, highlighting that recent developments in American courts have raised concerns about Tinubu's integrity and Nigeria's international standing.

The forum pointed to FBI court filings indicating that the records under litigation pertain to a criminal investigation into drug-related offenses involving Tinubu. While the forum distinguished between investigation and guilt, it stressed that such inquiries into a sitting president warrant public concern regarding transparency.

The group criticized the silence of prominent Nigerians on this matter and suggested that political considerations might be influencing their responses. They urged for the lawful release of relevant records and called for an independent process to address any remaining concerns.
