Kano State Tops 2026 NECO Results with Record Candidates

In the 2026 NECO results, Kano State achieved the highest performance, with 74,413 candidates obtaining at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics. This marks the second consecutive year that Kano has topped the NECO performance chart, having also led in 2025.

Governor Abba Yusuf commended students, teachers, and parents for their contributions to this success. He noted that the state government invested over N4.4 billion in 2026 to sponsor candidates for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, particularly focusing on indigent students.

This financial support aims to eliminate barriers to examination participation. Governor Yusuf emphasized that education has consistently received the largest share of the state budget, with allocations increasing to N405.35 billion in 2026, representing about 30 percent of the total budget.

His administration's educational policies have garnered national and international recognition, positioning Kano as a leading education reform hub in sub-Saharan Africa.
