TOS Foundation Launches HerCademy Mentorship for Women

The TOS Foundation, in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy, unveiled the HerCademy Legislative Mentorship Programme on Tuesday in Abuja, Nigeria. This six-week program is designed to bring together aspiring female leaders from across the country for intensive training and mentorship in legislative processes.

Osasu Igbinedion, the founder of the TOS Foundation, emphasized that while Nigeria has capable women, systemic barriers hinder their leadership roles. The program aims to equip women with the necessary skills to navigate the political landscape effectively.

Siamak Rouhani, Switzerland's Chargé d'Affaires in Nigeria, highlighted the urgent need for interventions to increase female representation, noting that less than 5% of Nigeria's National Assembly comprises women, one of the lowest rates in Africa. The launch featured a fireside conversation with Gill Lever, Deputy High Commissioner, and Dr.

Adanna Steinack, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women’s Health. The program includes training on policy development and political strategy, aiming to prepare women for effective leadership roles.
