TotalEnergies to Boost Nigeria's Oil Output by 140,000bpd

Mr. Victor Bandele, the Deputy Managing Director of TotalEnergies E&P Nigeria Limited in charge of Deepwater Assets, announced that the company aims to increase Nigeria's oil output by 140,000 barrels per day due to incentives from President Bola Tinubu's administration in 2023/2024.

The Ubeta deepwater project is expected to achieve first oil in 2027, while the Ima shallow water offshore field is projected for Q4 2028. Each project is estimated to produce up to 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The Ubeta field is located in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 58, 80 kilometers offshore Port Harcourt, and the Ima Field is under the AMNI/TotalEnergies Joint Venture. Bandele noted that these projects are crucial for boosting gas supply to Nigeria LNG Limited.

TotalEnergies took the Final Investment Decision (FID) on Ubeta in 2024, with the project emphasizing local content participation. The gas produced will serve as feedstock for Nigeria LNG's ongoing Train 7 construction.
