FUTA to Host AI Lecture by Dr. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji

Dr. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, a distinguished expert in artificial intelligence and education reform, will be the guest lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) for the 2026 annual lecture. Scheduled for July 15, 2026, at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, the lecture will address the role of African universities in preparing graduates to be creators of technology rather than mere consumers.

Titled "Artificial Intelligence: Consuming or Creating?", Dr. Akerele-Ogunsiji will challenge institutions to rethink their educational frameworks in light of AI's rapid evolution. She emphasizes the need for universities to produce intelligent solutions that address Africa's unique development priorities.

As the founder and CEO of Rise Network, she has been a leader in advancing technology-driven development across Africa. Her recent work includes a PhD focusing on the implications of AI for Nigeria's economy and security.
