Tragic Death of Three Siblings Near Akure River

A tragic incident occurred in Akure, Ondo State, where three siblings were found dead near a river on a farm close to the Owena Army Barracks. The victims, identified as 11-year-old twins Joshua Jonah and Jacob Jonah, along with their five-year-old sister Blessing Jonah, had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026.

After leaving the farm to return home, the children were reported missing when their father discovered their absence upon returning home. A search operation was initiated, leading to the discovery of their bodies on Saturday, September 5, 2026, near the riverbank.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the children's deaths. Police Public Relations Officer Jimoh Abayomi expressed condolences to the family and urged parents to exercise vigilance around bodies of water.
