Derby County and Birmingham City Target Philip Otele

Birmingham City and Derby County have emerged as the latest clubs interested in signing FC Basel winger Philip Otele. According to reports, Derby County has already begun discussions with FC Basel regarding the potential transfer of the Nigerian player.

The two Sky Bet Championship clubs are facing competition from Serie A teams Leece and Frosinone, who are also keen on acquiring Otele. The 27-year-old winger spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Bundesliga club Hamburg, where he struggled to make a significant impact, scoring only once in nine league appearances.

Consequently, Hamburg opted not to sign him on a permanent basis. FC Basel is reportedly willing to sell Otele and is expected to demand a transfer fee of approximately €5 million.
