Teddy Sheringham Critiques Youri Tielemans at Man United

Teddy Sheringham, a former Manchester United player, has publicly criticized the club's new signing, Youri Tielemans, asserting that he does not have the caliber required for a club of Manchester United's stature. Tielemans, a 29-year-old midfielder, transferred from Aston Villa to Manchester United in July for £35 million.

He is anticipated to take on a leadership role following the departure of Casemiro. Sheringham expressed disappointment over Manchester United's failure to pursue younger midfielders during the summer transfer window, stating that the club has lost its chance to acquire top talent as many leading players have already been signed.

He emphasized that significant investment is necessary to secure the best players, referencing the successful recruitment strategies of Sir Alex Ferguson. Sheringham questioned whether Tielemans would elevate the club's standards or merely be content to be part of the team.

Tielemans previously captained Belgium at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and made 134 appearances for Aston Villa, scoring 10 goals and providing 25 assists under Unai Emery.
