Scholes Claims Mainoo Better Than United's New Signings

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes expressed his belief that midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is superior to the club's recent summer signings, which include Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba. Speaking on The Good, The Bad, The Football podcast, Scholes noted that despite Mainoo's underwhelming performance last season, he still outperforms the new arrivals.

He highlighted that Manchester United spent £50 million on Santos and activated a £35 million release clause for Tielemans from Aston Villa. Scholes remarked on the significant investment in these players, totaling around £90 million, and stated, “He [Mainoo] is better than all three of them.” He acknowledged Mainoo's quiet demeanor as a potential drawback and recalled the team's struggles when he was not utilized effectively last season.

Scholes emphasized that while Mainoo was not exceptional upon his return, he still made a notable impact towards the end of the season.
