Man City Prepares Bid for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez

Manchester City is set to make an opening bid for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as manager Enzo Maresca aims to strengthen his midfield ahead of the transfer deadline. Fernandez, a 25-year-old Argentina international, has become a priority target for Maresca following significant player departures from Manchester City this summer.

Chelsea is aware of City's interest and previously established an unofficial deadline for a deal, valuing Fernandez at a minimum of £120 million, but no agreement was reached by that deadline. A successful transfer could position Fernandez among the most expensive signings in Premier League history, following Liverpool’s £125 million deal for Alexander Isak.

City has already spent £116 million on Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest and may break their transfer record again. Maresca seeks to replace key midfielders who have left, including Tijjani Reijnders, Rodri, and Bernardo Silva.

Fernandez, who joined Chelsea from Benfica for £107 million in 2023, has faced scrutiny since Chelsea's Champions League exit in March.
