Container Accident on Kaduna Expressway Claims Four Lives

On Monday evening, a severe accident occurred on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway in Kaduna, where a container detached from a moving trailer and fell onto a commercial tricycle, commonly known as "keke napep." This incident resulted in the immediate deaths of the tricycle rider and three passengers. Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific, with residents and passersby struggling for hours to recover the victims trapped beneath the heavy container.

Muhammad Suraj, a local resident, wrote an open letter to Governor Uba Sani, highlighting the expressway as a danger zone due to frequent accidents involving trailers. Suraj urged the state government to take urgent action to restrict the movement of heavy-duty vehicles during late-night hours and enforce strict traffic regulations.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, represented by Garba Usman, confirmed the accident but declined to comment on the casualty figures, stating that full details had not yet been received.
