Troops Arrest Nine Militia Members in Plateau State

On April 18, 2026, troops deployed to Ganawuri in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State arrested nine suspected members of a Berom militia. This operation was in response to reports of criminal movements towards the Danwal general area, where the troops intercepted and apprehended the suspects, who were found with blood-stained bodies, raising suspicions of their involvement in recent silent killings.

The arrested individuals were identified as Gyang Dantoro, Samson Davou, Choji Yakubu, Vincent Adamu, Pam Dalyop, Femi Badung, Jacob Musa, and Choji Chaga, all residents of Danwal. The operation resulted in the recovery of three motorcycles, one pistol, one submachine gun, one locally made revolver rifle, and 20 rounds of pistol ammunition, along with a local fabric rifle.

This arrest comes amid ongoing security concerns and sustained violence in Plateau State, particularly in the communities of Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Bokko, and Mangu.
