Troops Arrest Former Police Officer for Arms Trafficking

On June 14, 2026, troops from Sector 6 of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force, arrested Inspector Danjuma Yusuf, a former officer dismissed from service, in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The arrest followed credible intelligence regarding Yusuf's involvement in a high-profile arms trafficking network.

He was intercepted while traveling in a white Peugeot vehicle towards the area. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, 167 rounds of 9mm ammunition, three cans of pepper spray, a jackknife, two mobile phones, two cutlasses, two ATM cards, a National Identification Number card, and cash amounting to N73,300.

The operation is part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt illegal arms trafficking and enhance national security. Further investigations are underway to uncover the network's associates and financial suppliers.
