Troops Defuse IED on Zamfara Road, Enhance Security

On August 27, 2026, troops from Sector 2 discovered and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by bandits along the Gurusu–Gwashi Road in Zamfara. This operation was initiated following credible intelligence received by the military.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, reported that the troops responded swiftly to the threat, securing the area to protect motorists and other road users. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was deployed to the site and successfully disposed of the explosive device.

Following this operation, the military maintained aggressive patrols in the area to prevent terrorists from operating freely. The military characterized this operation as a significant success in their ongoing fight against terrorist elements in the North-West and reiterated their commitment to safeguarding lives and critical access routes.

They urged local residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing the importance of timely information in enhancing security.
