Troops Recover N5.3m, Disrupt Terrorist Activities in Zamfara

On Friday, troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, conducted operations in Zamfara State, successfully disrupting terrorist activities. They recovered military accoutrements, motorcycles, and over N5.3 million in cash.

Lt Col Aliyu Danja, the JTF Media Information Officer, reported that the troops, in collaboration with a Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, cleared an Improvised Explosive Device near Jabanda village in Zurmi Local Government Area. During their return, they engaged terrorists at Birnin Tsaba village, forcing them to retreat.

Further searches yielded two motorcycles and other military items. In Shinkafi Local Government Area, troops acted on intelligence regarding terrorist activities, resulting in the recovery of additional military gear.

Troops also intercepted Lawali Dan Alo, a 35-year-old alleged terrorist collaborator, discovering N5.302 million in cash in his possession, which he was reportedly delivering for a terrorist leader, Kasimu Garba, who was arrested. Both suspects are in custody for further investigation.
