Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Seize 180 Explosives in Zamfara

On Friday, troops from Sector 2 conducted a clearance operation around Garin Kaso in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, Zamfara State, where they engaged in a gun battle with terrorists, resulting in the death of two terrorists. The troops recovered two rifles, two magazines, nine rounds of ammunition, and two motorcycles.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of JTF North West, reported that another group of terrorists attempted to ambush the troops but were repelled, inflicting further casualties on the attackers. The exact number of casualties from this encounter remains unconfirmed.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops intercepted a 57-year-old man, Sani Umar, suspected of transporting arms and explosives. A search of his vehicle revealed 180 units of 20mm Super Power explosives, allegedly being transported from Gusau Local Government Area to terrorist elements in Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State.

The suspect and the explosives have been taken into custody for further investigation.
