Troops Detonate IED in Borno, Prevent Potential Attack

On April 9, troops operating in Borno State discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) near Mairari Town along the Gajiram axis. The explosive device was detected by a forward operating base's ordnance disposal team, which was deployed to the area following intelligence reports.

The IED was found at the exit gate of the town, raising concerns for civilian safety and security personnel. The explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team conducted a controlled detonation of the device without any casualties.

Following the operation, the area was thoroughly scanned to ensure no additional explosives were present. Preliminary findings suggested that the device may have been planted by insurgents prior to the deployment of troops to secure the location.

Security sources noted that such tactics are commonly used to target civilian and military convoys, although the general security situation in the area was described as calm, with warnings that it remains unpredictable due to ongoing military operations.
