Troops Neutralize Terrorists on Maiduguri-Konduga Road

On April 2, 2023, at approximately 11:30 PM, Troop 222 Battalion successfully thwarted an attempt by suspected terrorists to plant an improvised explosive device (IED) along the strategic Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri road in Borno State. An ambush team positioned along this critical supply route engaged the suspects as they attempted to execute their plan.

The troops responded swiftly, utilizing rocket-propelled grenades during the engagement, which triggered an explosion and led to the neutralization of members of the terrorist group, believed to be part of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). Following the operation, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, although further searches of the area did not yield additional significant items.

The Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri axis remains a vital supply route for both military and civilian movements, and troops are maintaining heightened surveillance to prevent future attacks and ensure safe passage. Sources indicate that troop morale and operational efficiency remain high as clearance operations continue across the area.
