Troops and DSS Repel Bandit Attack in Niger State

On Tuesday, troops from the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) and local volunteer forces, thwarted an attack by approximately 300 armed bandits in Niger State. The assault targeted the Bagna Erena community in the Shiroro Local Government Area.

Following credible intelligence about the impending attack, local volunteer groups set an ambush for the bandits as they advanced on the community. The operation resulted in the death of several bandits, while others fled towards Makuba and Allawa.

Sources noted that the collaboration between security agencies and local volunteers has strengthened frontline defense and helped close security gaps in vulnerable communities. The swift response of the joint forces was commended, as it averted a potential major disaster and ensured the safety of residents in the area.
