Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim in Sokoto Bandit Attack

On March 29, 2023, at approximately 1:00 AM, troops from the 8 Division Garrison were deployed from their forward operating base in Sabon Birni, Sokoto State, in response to reports of a bandit attack on Maiwa Village. Upon arrival, the troops made contact with the attackers and engaged in a firefight, which forced the bandits to abandon their abducted victim and flee the scene.

The troops pursued the fleeing bandits, but their efforts were hindered by the riverine terrain and poor visibility. Despite these challenges, the troops continued their efforts to track the assailants and ensure the safety of the remaining kidnap victim in the area.
