Troops Prevent Oil Well Vandalization in Anambra State

On March 27, at approximately 11:10 PM, troops from the 5 Battalion stationed in Opokushi, Delta, responded to suspicious activities around an oil well-head in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Upon arrival, the troops engaged with suspected vandals, who subsequently abandoned their mission and fled the area.

Following the confrontation, the troops discovered dynamite that was allegedly intended for sabotage of the oil facility. A bomb disposal team was deployed to the location but was initially unable to safely disconnect the explosive device without triggering a possible detonation.

Efforts to neutralize and remove the explosives are ongoing. The troops are maintaining heightened surveillance in the general area and reaffirmed their commitment to securing critical national infrastructure to prevent economic sabotage.
