Troops Neutralize 24 Terrorists in Borno Kukareta Attack

Troops from Sector 2 conducted a successful operation in Kukareta, Borno, neutralizing 24 terrorists during a coordinated attack that began around midnight and lasted until 3:00 AM on Thursday. The troops engaged in a prolonged firefight, managing to repel the assault and inflict heavy casualties on the attackers.

Following the encounter, the troops recovered a significant cache of weapons, including 18 AK-47 rifles, three general-purpose machine guns (GPMG), two anti-aircraft guns, three rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) tubes, two mortar tubes, four hand grenades, and a large quantity of 7.62mm belt ammunition. Additionally, two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds during the engagement and are currently receiving medical treatment.

This operation is described as a major gain, highlighting the resilience of troops in ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the northeast, amidst intensified military efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore stability in affected communities.
